History

Founded in 1973

After the devastating effects of Hurricane Agnes in 1972 our organization was formed by the merger of Historic Ellicott Mills and the Bicentennial committee with the purpose if preservation and improvement of Main Street. Our first project was the restoration of the Ellicott City B & O Train Station, operating it for over 25 years as a museum. It is currently owned and operated by Howard County. Our mission continues with millions of dollars raised and spent on many preservation projects. Our primary fundraiser has been Decorator Showhouses throughout Howard County.
