Step Into History: The Power of Place: The Avalon Site at Patapsco
An evening presentation by Ann Bennett, Executive Director of Howard County Historical Society
"Located within Patapsco Valley State Park, on the Baltimore County side of the Patapsco River, rests the site of the once-bustling forge and worker village of Avalon Nail and Iron Works. How did this forge site come to be a part of the Patapsco State Park, and what is its lasting legacy? Enjoy an evening presentation by Ann Bennett, the newly appointed Executive Director of the Howard County Historical Society, on the significance of the cultural and natural landscapes around us, and the power of place. Registration is encouraged.
This lecture is for the Step Into History community outreach project. We invite you to visit the Step Into History frame, installed at the Avalon picnic pavilions of Patapsco Valley State park until September 2025.
Step Into History 2025 is made possible through a grant from the Howard County Arts Council."
